Summary: BIM Designs, Inc is seeking a BIM / VDC Technician

The purpose of your role as a BIM / VDC Technician:

As a BIM / VDC Technician, you will produce detailed, constructible shop drawings and project deliverables, such as spool maps and spools, based on contract documents, design criteria and/or instructions. Shop drawings are to reflect the use of sensible and strategic practices to maximize productivity throughout all phases of the construction process. The process is typically executed in the following phases: Setup and Backgrounds, Initial Detailing, System Modeling, Coordination, and Final Detailing/Deliverable Creation. May receive work direction from Journeyman/VDCT Detailers.

What we're looking for in you:

  • Timely and accurate preparation of BIM models and deliverables.
  • Communicate all finished tasks with the Foreman, using Asana scrum boards.
  • Create a “lean” model using the least amount of pipe/duct and fittings to reduce cost.
  • Assist with updating, maintaining and distributing documents to Foreman.
  • Attend and /or assist in model coordination meetings as needed. Per Foreman.
  • Attend daily stand up meeting
  • Create a constructible model. Spool lengths comply with client or site restrictions. Routing is in accessible areas. Model is fully installable.
  • Assist to process shop / fabrication BIM models for approval.
  • Assist with coordinating models with internal and subcontractor detailers.
  • Escalate any issues to Foreman, with BIM Model and/or coordination issues etc.
  • Create Bills of Material
  • Create Trimble files

Education and/or Experience:
  • All experience levels are welcome to apply
Language Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to speak effectively before guests and associates of the organization
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Physical Demands:
  • Required to use hands and fingers to handle objects and equipment
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
  • Required to sit for extended periods and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Required to frequently reach with hands and arms
  • Regularly required to talk or hear
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job to include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision
