BIM Designs was responsible in this project for the furnishing of CAD resources to facilitate 3D model population and spatial coordination of plumbing systems, including hangers, provision of Trimble points and sleeves, shop and construction drawings for fabrication, and equipment layout drawings. It also included equipment pad drawings, bills of material, sleeves and inserts for decks and sheer walls, and Trimble points for the same.

UC Davis West Village is the largest planned “zero net energy” community in the United States.

The new undergraduate housing project is also a public-private partnership development and will include approximately 1,250 student housing units, with a total of approximately 3,300 beds. It will also have a community center, multiple study rooms, and photovoltaic systems to provide power to the facility.

Regarding the expansion, UC Davis released a statement and noted their dedication to environmental mindedness, saying that they are "committed to addressing the needs of [their] students, faculty, staff and local community, while meeting the important environmental requirements of California law."

The site for the construction sits on approximately 34 acres to the north of the existing apartments at West Village and wraps around to the west.  Construction of the Project began in December 2018.  The Developer and UC Davis anticipate the Project will have approximately 1,000 beds completed in time for occupancy in Fall 2020 and that the remaining beds will be completed in time for occupancy in Fall 2021.
