Strategic Account Manager is a quota-carrying, individual contributor position with responsibilities to include developing long-term relationships with a portfolio of clients, connecting with key business executives and stakeholders. The Strategic Account Managers liaise between customers and cross-functional internal teams to ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to client needs, with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.


  • The overall responsibility of the position is to serve as the primary point of contact between the company and its customer base, including providing official communication in both directions with a goal of adding projects to the sales funnel.
  • The Strategic Account Manager works for the client as much as the company, and it is their task to ensure the continuation of healthy client relationships by ensuring that business between both parties are fair and to the satisfaction of all.
  • As a Strategic Account Manager, you’ll work closely with estimating, sales, and project executives to understand customer needs and articulate the unique value of our services through in-person and virtual presentations to establish and expand account portfolios. 
  • The Strategic Account Manager utilizes much of their time building further relationships horizontally and vertically at the client level to create room for more opportunities
  • Though the practice of managing accounts is primarily done remotely, the customer-oriented nature of the Strategic Account Manager's responsibilities may require significant amounts of travel in order to meet with new and existing clients.


General Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


  • Develops and cultivates sales leads to strengthen inbound activity, as it relates to meeting the goals of our sales targets
  • Helping clients through email, phone, online, screen-share and in-person meetings
  • Forecast and track key account metrics using a CRM system 
  • Educates, influences, and articulates the optimal sales solution to prospective clients as a means of moving sales forward
  •  Engaging in customer sales calls and in-person meetings, as needed, to develop and further sales opportunities
  • Generates sales-ready meetings and opportunities, coordinating internal and external partners to achieve goals for the client on behalf of BDI
  • Identifies key decision makers, maintains relationships, and builds trust on behalf of all stakeholders, while acting as a BDI brand ambassador
  • Identifying & engaging contacts in our largest and most important accounts
  • Overcomes sales objections in a tasteful manner
  • Qualify, follow up, educate, and develop a substantial volume of leads to progress prospects further into the BIM Designs sales funnel
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to drive continuous improvement in lead quality, conversion rates, and pipeline generation
  • Work with other team members to develop a pipeline that reinforces lead generation and revenue goals within a metrics-driven environment
  • Work with sales support team to generate reports and track sales metrics and engagement
  • Full utilization and optimization of the company CRM Tools and SOPs
  • Facilitate sales and customer success process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity
  • Management of targeted recruitment campaigns to facilitate a steady pipeline of new applicants to match sales opportunities
  • Responsible for keeping current clients satisfied and delivering exceptional client service on a day-to-day basis
  • Occasional attendance at strategic conferences, trade shows, and events may be required
  • Meets strategic monthly sales targets to support company goals

Education and/or Experience:


  • 3-5 years of proven Strategic account management, Key Account management, Business Development, or other relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level (bonus points if you already have relationships with the AE&C community!)
  • Experience in delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation skills (formal training in negotiation is a plus!)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, construction management, or equivalent work experience
  • Deep digital understanding
  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in a results/metrics-driven environment
  • Natural relationship builder with integrity, reliability and maturity
  • Ability to prioritize among competing tasks
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Understanding of inbound sales, outbound sales, marketing, measurement and analytics, content management, digital marketing and internet technology
  • Excellent time and project management skills. You're always looking to improve inefficient processes
  • Keen attention to detail and adherence to deadlines
  • Expert at Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, HubSpot/CRM
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam is preferred 
  • Outbound calling experience within a business environment
  • A commitment to self development in sales/leadership courses 

(Karrass, Sinek, Wharton, Kellogg, DiSC, etc…) is a PLUS!


Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Ability to speak effectively before guests and associates of the organization

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

Bilingual Spanish is a plus!


Physical Demands:

May be required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects

Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds

Occasionally required to sit for extended periods also stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

Required to frequently reach with hands and arms
