Which Union are you a Member of?
U.A. Local 469 in Phoenix, Arizona
What's your trade specialization?
Plumbing
Which classification or term are you?
Journeyman Plumber
How many years of field work did you have before becoming detailer?
I was in the field on and off throughout my apprenticeship but usually for 1-2 month stretches when detailing got slow.
What type of field work have you performed?
I did installations of PVC, CPVC, HP stainless tubing, PVDF, copper pipe (soldered), small tubing pulls, and hangers. I also worked on a demo of AW and EV lines at Intel, and I was also a field liason at Intel for approximately 8 months.
Where did you work last, and how long were you there?
I worked with Southland Engineering for 3 and a half years.
What are other job roles you have performed in the past?
I've been a Lead Detailer on one small project. Prior to joining the union, I did residential framing, finish carpentry, drywall, design/install/maintenance of several very large aquariums for approximately 7 years.I also did various retail management jobs and CAD jobs for approximately 5 years. Yeah, I'm old, LOL.
What passion, energy or excitement do you bring into the workplace with you?
I really enjoy making a project work when others say it cant be done. Problem solving makes a job more satisfying. I enjoy helping others when I can. While I really enjoy challenges, I also enjoy the simpler tasks as well, such as spooling and cleaning up drawings. Having a big pile of clean, pretty shop drawings done always makes my day.
I do gardening. I also go fishing. I love to cook and spending time with my family. When there's more time, I spend it working on my car.
