BIM Pre Construction/ Estimation Support

Position: Preconstruction Estimator
Reports to: Preconstruction Manager
Dept:  Estimating Team
Salary:  $28-$34 per hour

Summary: BIM Designs, Inc is seeking Preconstruction Support to review construction documents, perform quantity takeoffs, compile estimates, setup proposals, track deviations / COs, and maintain project spreadsheets.

General Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Review requests for pricing (RFP)
  • Perform quantity take-off surveys of sheet metal, mechanical pipe, and plumbing systems.
  • Evaluate bill rates
  • Estimating across all scopes of work.
  • Review request for pricing (RFP) and understand scope of work.  
  • Communicate with the Preconstruction Manager to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements.
  • Review and notate all documents pertinent to scope of work including specs, detail sheets, architecturals, and any available addenda.
  • Actively participate in the internal estimate review process.
  • Complete estimate form accurately and ensure fields are pertinent to scope.
  • Assist operations team with change order pricing in a timely manner, if needed.
  • Manage estimating databases.
  • Work with local organizations to ensure compliance.

  • General knowledge of construction principles and processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

  • Effective participation in a team environment, with both external and internal teammates.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
  • A strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before guests and associates of the organization

Physical Demands:

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
  • Regularly required to talk or hear
